Blue Wake™ 2025: Yachting in Transition Anchors at the Monaco Yacht Show
Monaco Yacht Show Drives Sustainable Innovation in Yachting
As the yachting industry reinvents itself to address environmental challenges, the Monaco Yacht Show is solidifying its role as a catalyst for change. Its Blue Wake™ program, launched in partnership with the Water Revolution Foundation and supported by Siemens Energy, is emerging as a credible showcase for operational sustainable innovations. For the 2025 edition, 28 exhibitors – a number expected to grow by the end of July – will present tested, concrete solutions ready for adoption.
The ambition? To accelerate the ecological transition of the industry without compromising on design, performance, or comfort. This goal is achieved through a rigorous selection process covering the entire value chain: propulsion, energy, water management, maintenance, interior design, and recreational equipment.
Reducing Impact Without Sacrificing Performance
Propulsion remains at the heart of the transformation. Hybrid, electric, and renewable energy systems are establishing themselves as serious alternatives, capable of significantly reducing emissions while improving autonomy and acoustic comfort on board (Ampros, Rolls-Royce Power Systems, Voith…).
Wastewater management is also evolving, with compact devices that meet the strictest environmental standards (DVZ-Services, Headhunter Inc). The same logic applies to air conditioning, where new systems combine energy efficiency with constant comfort, even in the hottest areas (Termodinamica).
At the dock, new shore power systems reduce the use of generators and facilitate the integration of green energy (ASEA Power Systems, SKF). As for marine coatings, they now incorporate low-emission formulations (AkzoNobel, Boero), proving that aesthetics and sustainability can go hand in hand.
Eco-Design Gains Ground
Sustainable yachting is not limited to motorization. Eco-designed interiors, made of bio-sourced or certified materials (Silverlining Furniture, Tai Ping), are gaining ground, as are handling equipment redesigned to limit their footprint (Cimolai Technology). Even heat-shrink films are becoming recyclable (Armadillo Wrapping), reducing plastic waste.
Some solutions have a direct impact on biodiversity: hydrocarbon bioremediation (Marina Ibiza), eco-responsible port infrastructures (MDL Marinas), and alternative fuels and dual-fuel marine engines (Deasyl, Ranieri Tonissi). Not to mention electric or hydrogen tenders – both efficient and eco-responsible (Evene Tenders, Xtenders).
Finally, emblematic shipyards (Sunreef Yachts, Sanlorenzo, Amico & Co) are adopting a holistic approach: renewable energy, digitalization of operations, bioclimatic structures… A fully embraced and integrated transition.
A Credible Collective Dynamic
According to Gaëlle Tallarida, Managing Director of the MYS, Blue Wake™ reflects the diversity of credible and operational solutions that are transforming the sector. “Each link in the chain is adapting, innovating, and moving forward. The show is fully playing its role as a platform to promote these ambitious approaches.”
“The program highlights solid, tested innovations. It is now up to market players – designers, shipyards, clients – to adopt them massively to trigger a real shift.” – Robert van Tol, Director of the Water Revolution Foundation.
The Monaco Yacht Show 2025 is no longer just about showing yachts; it is showing the way. The complete list of Blue Wake™ exhibitors is available online, to prepare a route focused on responsible innovation. A concrete way to anchor maritime luxury in a sustainable future.
