Bormes-les-Mimosas: A modern port facing the sea and the future

Bormes-les-Mimosas: A modern port facing the sea and the future

A Prime Stop on the Var Coast

Nestled at the foot of the La Favière district, facing the Golden Islands, the port of Bormes-les-Mimosas enjoys an exceptional location. Behind its solid seawalls, which effectively protect against swells from the east, it accommodates nearly 980 boats spread across a spacious body of water. At the quayside, boaters will find everything that facilitates a peaceful stopover: potable water, electricity, showers, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, a fuel station, and even a car or bicycle rental service to explore the surroundings.

For maneuvers and maintenance, the port is also well-equipped: a careening area equipped with a 60-ton crane ensures lifting, mechanical work, and on-site maintenance. The harbor master’s office, accessible year-round, offers berths both annually and daily, with attentive service and high-quality amenities.

An Environmentally Exemplary Port

What also distinguishes Bormes-les-Mimosas is its strong commitment to preserving the marine environment. Awarded the Blue Flag label for over thirty years, the port is part of a sustainable approach that goes far beyond the usual standards.

It was notably one of the first to install a high-performance desalination plant, capable of transforming seawater into fresh water. This initiative reduces pressure on local resources, particularly during the summer, while guaranteeing appreciable autonomy.

Another remarkable innovation: the port actively participates in the ReFISH SeaBoost project, a program for regenerating marine biodiversity. Artificial modules, installed under the pontoons, promote the development of local species, offering suitable habitats for fish, shellfish, and other organisms. A concrete way to give back to the marine environment what boating takes away.

A Lively Stopover, Between Sea and Land

The port is not just a transit point: it’s a place of life. Throughout the year, and especially in the summer, the quays come alive with local events: concerts, markets, yoga sessions, or exhibitions. With its restaurants, shops, and services, the stopover becomes a pleasant interlude in a preserved natural environment.

On land, the old village of Bormes, perched on the hill, invites you to stroll through flowered streets, local crafts, and viewpoints over the Mediterranean. On the sea side, the coves of Cap Bénat or the bay of Cabasson are available to boaters just a few miles away, while the islands of Port-Cros and Levant remain easily accessible.

A Committed Port, Looking Towards Tomorrow

More than just a marina, Bormes-les-Mimosas embodies a new generation of marinas today: responsible, innovative, close to nature. Through its certifications, environmental initiatives, and the consistent quality of its services, it shows that a port can be both efficient and respectful.

Boaters find a rare balance between comfort, hospitality, and commitment. And whether you come to spend a few days or choose to leave your boat there year-round, it’s hard not to appreciate this Mediterranean stopover, faithful to the spirit of the sea and resolutely turned towards the future.
