Cannes Yachting Festival 2025: Winners of the First Innovation Route Awards

Cannes Yachting Festival Spotlights Sustainable Innovation in Boating

The Cannes Yachting Festival has recognized key players driving the evolution of boating with a focus on sustainability, intelligence, and inspiration. A jury of experts selected four winners across distinct categories, highlighting the transformative momentum within the industry.

Advancing the Navigation Experience: WATCHKEEPER (SEA.AI) – PAN345

SEA.AI’s WATCHKEEPER, identified as PAN345, is an intelligent system that combines thermal cameras, machine vision, and artificial intelligence to automatically detect floating objects and prevent collisions. This represents a significant leap forward in predictive, secure, and more peaceful navigation.

Sustainable and Responsible Technologies: MODX 70 (MODX Catamarans) – SAIL035

The MODX 70 catamaran, designated SAIL035, stands out as the first 100% electric 70-foot catamaran. It integrates Aeroforce inflatable wings, electric propulsion, hydrogeneration, and 70 square meters of solar panels, enabling unlimited zero-emission navigation. This technological achievement demonstrates a commitment to environmental stewardship.

Propulsion Systems or Alternative Energies: M.10 (MILLIKAN BOATS) – POWER073

MILLIKAN BOATS’ M.10, identified as POWER073, is a self-sufficient electro-solar catamaran capable of producing up to 35 kWh per day. This ensures smooth, silent, and emission-free navigation, day and night, offering an innovative solution for decarbonizing boating.

Processes or Products with Low Environmental Impact: VAAN R5 (Vaan Yachts) – SAIL083

The VAAN R5, designated SAIL083, is a 49-foot sailboat constructed from recycled aluminum and circular materials, with 95% recyclability. It embodies the Dutch shipyard’s “Sail the Planet” philosophy, blending performance with environmental responsibility.

Special Jury Prize: B.YOND 37M (Benetti Yachts)

Benetti Yachts’ B.YOND 37M superyacht features a hybrid propulsion system developed with Siemens Energy and an SCR system. This reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 24% and NOₓ emissions by up to 85%. Its four navigation modes, including a zero-emission mode, allow access to protected marine areas while ensuring silent comfort at anchor.

These innovations are on display until September 14, 2025, at the Cannes Yachting Festival, Europe’s largest in-water boat show.
