Epiroc Invests in New Production and R&D Facility in India

Epiroc AB, a leading productivity and sustainability partner for the mining and infrastructure industries, has broken ground on a new production and research and development (R&D) facility in Nashik, India. This investment underscores Epiroc’s commitment to supporting customers in India and globally with high-quality products and solutions that enhance safety and productivity.

Expanding Capabilities in India

The new facility will focus on developing and producing both underground and surface equipment for mining and construction clients. The expansive site will house production and prototype buildings, an R&D laboratory, office spaces, and an outdoor area for equipment testing. Operations are slated to commence in the third quarter of 2026, with phased development planned over the coming years. The total area of the facility will be approximately 175,000 square meters.

“The new facility in Nashik is an important step in further expanding our presence in the growing and very important Indian market, and it will also support our customers globally,” says Helena Hedblom, Epiroc’s President and CEO.

Strategic Investment in a Growing Market

Epiroc already has production and R&D facilities at multiple locations in India, including Nashik, and employs approximately 1,750 people in the country, including a substantial and growing R&D organization. Earlier this year, in April, Epiroc inaugurated an expanded production facility for rock drilling tools in Hyderabad. Last year, the company also opened a new innovation and technology center in the same city.

Creating Local Employment Opportunities

The new Nashik facility is expected to generate local employment, adding approximately 200 new direct positions to Epiroc’s existing workforce of around 280 in Nashik.

“We are enthusiastic about expanding further in India, where we see significant growth potential,” says Arunkumar Govindarajan, Head of Epiroc India. “We look forward to continuing to be a productivity and sustainability partner for our local and global customers through this investment. The new facility also supports our ‘Make in India’ initiatives.”
