Global mobility giant establishes itself in Lindholmen.

Modern vehicles are often described as computers on wheels. Everything is controlled by software. Therefore, it is natural for the software developer KPIT to establish itself in Gothenburg, and it confirms the city’s innovative strength in sustainable mobility. The aim is to reach one hundred employees in one year.

KPIT Technologies started in Pune, India, just over 30 years ago and is now fully focused on software-driven mobility. The system and software developer has 13,000 employees globally and technology centers in all major markets that are shaping this transformation. From the new office in Lindholmen Science Park, they will serve vehicle manufacturers and customers in the Nordic region and take advantage of the innovative power in Gothenburg.

The company functions as a partner in the development, validation and integration of software and systems for everything from electrification, digital cockpit, autonomous driving and improvements across the entire vehicle architecture.

Wants to recruit local talent

– Sweden is a strong innovation engine in sustainable mobility – with Gothenburg as its epicenter. Our presence here allows us to be physically closer to leading Swedish and European OEM companies, enabling faster collaborations and deeper integration of our software capabilities, says Sachin Tikekar, CEO, KPIT Technologies.

The newly opened technology center in Lindholmen plans to scale up its presence in Sweden significantly with the goal of reaching 100 employees within a year. A majority will be recruited locally. In the long term, they hope to make a Swedish growth journey similar to the one the company has made in Germany. KPIT employs a couple of thousand people in Europe.

– We look forward to working with local talent, leveraging Sweden’s focus on technology and green transition, and helping to develop solutions for the challenges that major mobility companies face globally, says Sachin Tikekar.

Strategically important supplier

The company has long-term partnerships with over twenty major vehicle manufacturers, including BMW, Renault and Honda, and is often deeply involved in developing new functionality.

– This is a strategically important establishment. KPIT’s expansion here strengthens the capacity of our vehicle cluster, and confirms Gothenburg’s importance as a global center for software-driven mobility and transport. We know that they see great growth opportunities in Sweden – very gratifying – and warmly welcome them here, says Patrik Andersson, CEO of Business Region Gothenburg.
