AI Agents Set to Revolutionize Retail and Customer Experience

“Dream big!” On January 12th in New York, at the National Retail Federation’s major American retail trade show, Azita Martin, Nvidia’s Vice President of Retail, went all out. The graphics card manufacturer continues to promote its generative artificial intelligence (AI)-enhanced solutions in the retail sector, joining other Silicon Valley giants. From Microsoft and Google to Meta, Amazon, Salesforce, Cisco, and AI generative specialists led by OpenAI and its conversational agent (chatbot), ChatGPT, the most widely used in the world, all are competing to win big in an exponential market.

Azita Martin’s pitch on the entry of publishers into the age of “agentics,” a term that refers to the day when swarms of AI agents will be able to perform tasks autonomously, made a strong impression.

“I was blown away,” admits Eric Dadian, President of the French Customer Relationship Association. “We have just equipped ourselves with chatbots capable of conversing with humans, and publishers are already offering us an interface with autonomous super-robots that will disrupt customer journeys, leaving brands behind,” he analyzes. Tomorrow, an internet user will be able to directly ask an AI agent to organize a trip from start to finish through a sufficiently precise request.

The future of retail and customer interaction is poised for a significant shift with the rise of AI agents.
