Leopard Catamarans Unveils the Leopard 52: To Be Discovered at the Cannes Yachting Festival

Leopard 52: A New Era of Versatile Catamarans

The Leopard 52 is making waves in the catamaran world, hailed as a versatile vessel adaptable to various lifestyles. According to Franck Bauguil, Senior Vice President Yacht Ownership & Product Development at Leopard Catamarans, this model caters to private owners, long-distance sailors, families, and charter clients alike. The company prides itself on delivering such a forward-thinking design.

Innovation and Modularity at its Core

One of the key strengths of the Leopard 52 lies in its customizable interior configurations. Options range from a 3-cabin layout with a configurable utility room to a 6-cabin/6-bathroom version tailored for charter and rental management. An optional crew cabin and multiple cockpit table configurations further enhance personalization.

Designed with comfort and conviviality in mind, the Leopard 52 features an open-plan salon and aft cockpit, promoting a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience. A watertight forward door provides direct access to the foredeck, enhancing both safety and ventilation. High-end interior finishes, indirect lighting, and refined details create a luxurious ambiance.

Enhanced Performance and Handling

The Leopard 52 is larger, faster, and more agile than its predecessor. Its optimized hull, developed through years of advanced CFD modeling by naval architects Simonis Voogd Design, significantly reduces pitching, improves seakeeping, and enhances maneuverability.

“The Leopard 52 inaugurates a new generation of catamarans offering more stability, comfort, and sailing power,” explains Alexander Simonis. “Owners will enjoy a purer sailing experience, with less reliance on the engine.”

Built by Robertson & Caine in South Africa, the Leopard 52 benefits from decades of shipbuilding expertise. Compared to the Leopard 50, the upwind sail area has increased by 17%, ensuring enhanced performance and a more rewarding sailing experience.

With its taller mast, overlapping genoa, and optional square-top mainsail, the Leopard 52 delivers exceptional performance on all points of sail, making it a true offshore cruising catamaran.

Sustainability and Smart Technologies

The Leopard 52 incorporates solutions designed to significantly reduce fuel consumption. Private owners can benefit from four integrated 400W solar panels, a high-performance lithium battery bank, and an electric propulsion system developed in partnership with Joool. This system also includes a hydrogenerator, allowing batteries to be recharged while sailing.

Future Leopard 52 owners will also have the option of an all-electric galley and appliances, minimizing gas usage and maximizing energy efficiency on board.

Global Debut and International Reach

Following its debut in Cannes, the Leopard 52 will be presented for the first time in the United States at the Annapolis boat show in October 2025. In addition to private sales, this new model will be available for charter and rental management with The Moorings under the name Moorings 5200.
