Schneider Electric’s Sustainability Efforts Gain Momentum
Schneider Electric’s latest sustainability figures for the third quarter reveal significant progress in their Schneider Sustainability Impact (SSI) program, spanning 2021-2025. With only one quarter remaining, the company reports a score of 8.52 out of 10, positioning them favorably to meet their target of 8.80 by year-end.
A key achievement this quarter is the early completion of the Zero Carbon Project. This initiative supports over 1,000 suppliers with tailored plans to phase out fossil fuels, providing technical training and guidance in renewable energy adoption. Impressively, the project has achieved an average reduction of CO₂ emissions by 53 percent among major suppliers, surpassing the 2025 target ahead of schedule.
Key Progress Areas in SSI
- Fossil Fuel Phase-Out: Since 2018, Schneider Electric’s products and solutions have helped customers save and prevent 792 million tons of CO₂ emissions, nearing the 2025 goal of 800 million tons. During Climate Week NYC 2025, the company announced expanded Scope 3 efforts, including enhanced supplier engagement and new cross-industry collaborations. These initiatives aim to accelerate emissions reductions across the value chain, focusing on digital tools, renewable energy supply, and circularity.
- The World Economic Forum recognized Schneider Electric’s AirSeT solution for “Excellence in Sustainable Design.” This innovation replaces SF₆ gases with pure air and vacuum technology, eliminating environmentally harmful greenhouse gases and enabling smarter, safer power grids.
- Energy Access: Since 2009, Schneider Electric’s programs have provided over 60 million people with access to green electricity, exceeding the 2025 target. This success is driven by distributed energy solutions like microgrids, which empower local communities through local ownership and shared governance. The “Energy Poverty” report from the Schneider Electric™ Sustainability Research Institute explores how energy democracy can drive systemic change.
“Schneider Electric has been named the world’s most sustainable company three times this year, most recently by Sustainability Magazine. These recognitions reflect the collective progress we see across the industry. What gives me confidence is the actions we see every day. Organizations are reducing their emissions, the technology is ready to be implemented at scale, and people are driving change with purpose. Sustainability is becoming the core of how we work, drive innovation, and collaborate. That’s where the real transformation happens,” says Esther Finidori, Chief Sustainability Officer at Schneider Electric.
