Schneider Electric Named Europe’s Most Sustainable Company

Schneider Electric has been recognized as Europe’s most sustainable company by Corporate Knights. This distinction acknowledges the company’s contributions to reducing environmental impact, improving energy efficiency, and consistently achieving ambitious sustainability goals.

In January 2025, Schneider Electric was named the world’s most sustainable company by Corporate Knights, a Canadian media and analysis firm focused on sustainable business development. Now, over 600 publicly traded European companies have been reviewed based on a comprehensive set of sustainability criteria. Following the January award, which was part of the well-known Global 100 ranking, Schneider Electric now tops the first edition of the Europe 50 list.

“Being named Europe’s most sustainable company is a significant achievement that confirms our work to create a positive impact through innovation, transparency, and collaboration. We are proud to lead the way and are even more motivated to increase our contribution to a more sustainable and inclusive world. At Schneider Electric, sustainability is not just one of our priorities – it is part of our purpose and our mission,” says Esther Finidori, the newly appointed Chief Sustainability Officer at Schneider Electric.

The Europe 50 ranking is based on the same comprehensive analysis model as the Global 100. Corporate Knights measures companies on their performance in environmental, social responsibility, and governance (ESG) factors. They are also evaluated based on a range of key indicators such as carbon productivity, revenue from sustainable products, board diversity, and investments linked to sustainability. The assessment includes both companies that are part of the STOXX Europe 600 Index and the 100 largest publicly traded companies in Europe, based on their market capitalization and whether they are headquartered within the region.

“The awards mean a lot to Schneider Electric. They are a testament to our commitment to sustainability and that we are at the forefront of driving positive change within various industries and regions, and are constantly working to continue driving innovation. This type of achievement is absolutely crucial for us to be able to translate our sustainability ambitions into real results,” says Anna Andersson, CEO of Schneider Electric Sweden.

Schneider Electric continues to make significant progress in sustainability in Sweden as well. The company’s distribution center in Örebro is a clear example of how ambitious sustainability goals can be realized locally. The facility has achieved full carbon neutrality, marking an important step in the company’s efforts to reduce its direct emissions throughout its operations.

“Our facility in Örebro shows how local initiatives can contribute to our global sustainability goals. Through consistent action and strong commitment, we have achieved full carbon neutrality and this now drives us to aim even higher in 2025. We are continuing to validate additional facilities and to introduce biodiversity as an integral part of our sustainability strategy in, among other places, Lund, Stockholm and Gothenburg,” says Anna Andersson, CEO of Schneider Electric Sweden.
