Digital Safety Net Enhances Business Security

Having robust systems in place to protect sensitive information is crucial. Depona offers solutions that ensure data is not lost, even in the event of serious incidents. By storing data on secure servers in Sweden, companies can rest assured that their information is protected against both physical and digital threats.

The need to secure data is increasing. Johan Litens explains how Depona protects data against information loss.

“If securing your digital environment was important before, it is even more important now. The person responsible for operations must be completely sure that critical and sensitive data is not lost in the event of a server crash or IT attack,” says Johan Litens.

Depona helps its customers with solutions that guarantee that important information is always available and protected.

“We have seen examples of ransomware attacks where not even Sweden’s best IT forensic experts have been able to unravel the codes. Sometimes, you have been forced to rebuild entire IT environments from scratch. That is why it is so important to have an overview of your data and how it is stored,” continues Johan Litens.

Remains Unaffected During Attacks

This is where Depona comes into the picture. The customer’s system is connected to Depona’s archive servers, and the archiving system then automatically retrieves business-critical data that the customer has chosen to archive for the long term in a location separate from the IT systems they use daily.

“What we also add is an offline backup. It remains unaffected if the customer’s IT environment is subjected to an attack and can be quickly uploaded elsewhere. In practice, this means that you avoid the enormous manual reconstruction work that is otherwise required when you need to set up the system from scratch,” says Johan Litens.

Depona Visual Archive is not tied to any of the tech giants, which means that the customer can use the system supplier for daily IT operations that they prefer. The archive solution works in the background without the customer needing to do anything.

“With a good archive service and backup, you have reduced the risk of failure and can act a little more agilely in everyday life. If it fails in daily operations, there is a digital safety net that counteracts the costly and laborious consequences of an IT failure,” says Johan Litens, and continues:

“I feel that until recently, cyberattacks have been seen as force majeure, an abnormal event that the business neither expected nor had a strategy to deal with. Now companies can no longer blame it on that. In 2025, you must have control and order over your data.”

Three Tips for Secure Data Management

  • Identify which data must absolutely not disappear or be locked.
  • Establish a completely separate digital safety net for this type of data. The more separated from daily operations, the more likely it is that the information is in untouched condition if an attack were to occur.
  • Storage must be systematic and automatic. Manual processes involve risks of human error.
