Wauquiez 55: When Elegance Meets Performance

Wauquiez 55: A New Standard in Ocean Cruising

Wauquiez has unveiled its latest masterpiece, the Wauquiez 55, a yacht designed for discerning sailors seeking a blend of performance, comfort, and innovation. This vessel promises to redefine the standards of long-distance cruising.

Design and Onboard Living

The Wauquiez 55 boasts a deck layout meticulously crafted for life at sea. The design incorporates three distinct zones:

  • A central cockpit optimized for maneuvering and socializing.
  • A spacious forward relaxation area.
  • A dedicated watersports zone with a broad aft platform, ideal for swimming and tender deployment.

The design stays true to the Wauquiez ethos, seamlessly merging elegance and practicality, ensuring safe and easy movement across the deck.

Hull and Performance

The hull, designed by Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design, is characterized by its exceptional stability and smooth passage through the waves. Constructed using resin infusion, the hull achieves rigidity, lightness, and durability, guaranteeing consistent performance in all conditions. The yacht offers a balanced and precise feel at the helm, delivering an enjoyable sailing experience whether on a quick cruise or an ocean passage.

Interior Elegance

Below deck, Wauquiez’s signature interior design combines refinement and ergonomics. Large side windows and a central skylight flood the cabins with natural light, creating a warm and airy ambiance. The spacious saloon flows into a well-equipped U-shaped galley, designed for functionality even in rough seas. The owner’s suite, located aft, offers remarkable comfort with a private bathroom, ample storage, and high-end finishes. Every material, from wood to fabrics to stainless steel, is carefully selected, reflecting the shipyard’s commitment to artisanal excellence.

Customization Options

The Wauquiez 55 is available in two versions:

  • Owner’s Version: Designed for elegant cruising, featuring a large aft cabin.
  • Grand Voyager Version: The aft cabin is slightly reduced to provide significant additional storage space, perfect for extended voyages.

This modularity reflects Wauquiez’s philosophy of offering a yacht adaptable to both offshore sailing and extended coastal cruises.

Innovative Hybrid Propulsion

The Wauquiez 55 features a hybrid propulsion system with two independent shaft lines, ensuring complete redundancy and optimal efficiency. Three modes are available:

  • 100% Thermal: 2 x 50 hp or 2 x 75 hp, for a maximum speed of 9.7 to 10.4 knots.
  • 100% Electric: 2 x 12 kW, for silent navigation at 7.5 knots.
  • Hybrid Mode: Combines both systems, achieving 9 knots with only 5 liters/hour fuel consumption, compared to 11 liters/hour in thermal mode.

In thermal mode, fuel consumption remains exemplary at 3.8 liters/hour at 7 knots, providing a range of over 1,500 nautical miles – a significant advantage for long-distance cruising.

The Wauquiez 55 embodies the fusion of tradition and innovation, appealing to demanding sailors seeking a seaworthy, comfortable yacht capable of crossing oceans without compromise.
