Wellcraft Unveils Redesigned 28-Foot Range: A New Era of Versatile Dayboating
Wellcraft is making waves with the simultaneous launch of three distinct models, signaling a clear vision: a comprehensive range designed to cater to diverse boating needs. The Speedster, with its sleek, open design, promises thrilling performance. The T-Top balances comfort and performance, enhanced by a protective hardtop. The Explorer stands out with its enclosed wheelhouse and layout optimized for extended cruises, offering overnight comfort unexpected in a boat of this size.
All three models share an innovative hull design by Navia, a Finnish firm known for its stepped hulls. This technology allows the Wellcraft 28s to plane faster, navigate drier, and maintain exceptional stability, even in challenging conditions.
A Reinvented Cockpit: Adaptable to Every Passion
The true strength of this new generation lies in the redesigned aft cockpit, transformed into a central, modular living space. Four configurations are available:
- Lounge: A social space designed to safely accommodate up to thirteen people.
- Barracuda: Transforms the boat into a fishing platform equipped with livewells, fish boxes, and specialized storage.
- Relax: A leisure-focused version with sunbeds and integrated storage.
- Sleeper: Exclusive to the Explorer, offering additional sleeping accommodations.
This modularity embodies Wellcraft’s philosophy: empowering owners to experience the sea on their terms, adapting their boat to their passions.
Performance, Safety, and Global Design
Beyond modularity, Wellcraft emphasizes performance. All three models benefit from the W.I.S.E. (Wellcraft Infujection Structure Engineering) process, combining infusion and injection in a monobloc molding. This results in a lighter, more rigid, and environmentally friendly hull. Paired with one or two outboards, these 28-footers exceed 50 knots while offering optimized fuel consumption and piloting comfort rarely seen in this category.
Safety is also a priority. High freeboards, easy movement thanks to the walkaround deck, oversized handrails, and forward-facing front seats ensure safe navigation in all conditions. Windshields are available in High or Sport versions to suit individual preferences.
“With this new range, Wellcraft opens a chapter: that of a more versatile, accessible and convivial navigation, without ever renouncing either the performance or the pioneering spirit that has made its reputation for nearly 70 years.”
Stylistically, the taut silhouette and signature Z-line embody Wellcraft’s DNA: an assertive American strength, enhanced by European design, to appeal to a demanding international market.
A Global Launch Calendar
Following its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the Wellcraft 28 T-Top and 28 Explorer will be unveiled in a World Premiere at boot Düsseldorf in January 2026, followed by a North American presentation at the Miami International Boat Show in February. This strategy confirms the global ambition of Wellcraft, a member of the Bénéteau Group since 2014, and its driving role in the world of dayboating.
The Future of Dayboating
With this new range, Wellcraft is pioneering a new era of versatile, accessible, and convivial boating, without compromising on performance or the pioneering spirit that has defined the brand for nearly 70 years.
