A Passion, a Brand: A Tale of Nautical Loyalty
A Relationship Spanning Over 25 Years
It all began at the Grand Pavois in La Rochelle in 1998, with the purchase of an Oceanis 46 under The Moorings’ management-rental program. Today, they have just taken possession of Ouvéa VI, a Moorings 5000 catamaran, their fourth boat with the brand. Their commitment reflects a long-standing relationship built on trust and the quality of services provided.
For this professionally active couple, technical constraints – maintenance, hull cleaning, unforeseen events – were hindering their nautical enjoyment, limited to two or three weeks per year. According to them, The Moorings program offers them exactly what they need: to leave without worry and refocus on the essentials – sailing.
Alain testifies: “There is quite a bit of history between The Moorings and us, and a lot of pleasure. We had a professional life that was far too busy to be able to do more than two or three weeks of boating per year, and in any case, unable to organize the maintenance. When we discovered what The Moorings program was, that is, the ability to come and sail in any corner of the world with a bottle of rosé waiting for you and nothing else to do but go and enjoy it, it was a total dream. As a result, we stayed with this program until our retirement because it was the only way to truly enjoy the sea without the drawbacks.”
A Smart Financial Alternative
After three boats operated via The Moorings, the assessment is clear: the initial purchase is largely amortized by the monthly income generated, and the resale after five to six years keeps the promise of an almost free voyage: “Before adopting The Moorings program, we always had our own boat. And so we know very well what it is like to have a boat in the port, to have to ensure its maintenance, to have to take it out of the water to clean the hull once a year, to always have the snag that means, oh well no, we can’t leave, etc. And with The Moorings, it is always perfectly maintained without us having to worry about it. So it’s really just the pleasure without the drawbacks.”
Having All the Comfort, Without the Technical Constraints
The couple highlights several advantages of The Moorings program:
- Maintenance ensured without personal intervention
- Annual hull cleaning organized
- Sailing in the most beautiful regions of the world without worrying about logistics
“With the penultimate The Moorings program, we had a planned fleet exit which happened normally around I think 2016 and we thought we would keep the boat, and that what The Moorings knew how to do, that is, manage the boat, rent it to others, we would know how to do just as well as The Moorings. And that was not the case at all, it was very complicated to manage, the boat was in the Caribbean, we were working in France, there was the time difference, we never agreed with the crews, etc., and it almost became a total financial horror story,” says Alain.
The Choice of the Moorings 5000 for the Family Spirit
Intended for extended family sailing, this 5-cabin catamaran is ideal for their three children and five grandchildren. According to Alain G.: “When we left the Cannes Yachting Festival last year and saw this Moorings 5000, we thought it wasn’t such a bad idea and we decided to dive back in. We love sailing with family and we wanted a boat capable of accommodating a lot of people and the Moorings 5000 has five cabins and it allows you to sail with a large number of people without getting in each other’s way. Everyone finds their place in the most beautiful corners of the world. The question doesn’t really arise.”
Their fourth boat with The Moorings illustrates a loyalty based on a progressive, enriched, and reassuring experience. From the freedom to explore with family to simplified and profitable management, this couple proves that The Moorings is not just a service provider: it is a true navigation partner. Their lucid and enthusiastic testimony reminds us how much the choice of a suitable program makes all the difference in the yachting experience.
