AI’s Sexual Awakening: Will Sex Experts Become Obsolete?
Just a few months ago, I regarded conversational AIs with a certain amusement. The technological revolution had clearly missed the sexual revolution. As prudish as a 19th-century virgin, it scurried away at the mere mention of a penis. Its erotic texts appeared and were censored simultaneously. Its advice sounded like reminders of good behavior. It spent half the time explaining its own limitations, and the other half treating me like a six-week-old rabbit. Frankly, the content wasn’t impressive for a sex expert.
That was a few months ago, which is like a few millennia in AI time. Since then, ChatGPT has discovered fire, the wheel, and the prostatic orgasm. By December, it will be possible to have erotic conversations with it. Since 2024, the primary use of artificial intelligence is no longer professional but therapeutic – therefore potentially, sex-therapeutic (Harvard Business Review). To improve their erotic skills, the extremely shy no longer have to face the great leap into the void that is human communication. And I wonder if I’ll still have a job by Christmas.
The Rise of AI Sex Therapy
The shift in AI’s capabilities is nothing short of remarkable. What was once a clumsy, awkward attempt at eroticism has evolved into a potentially powerful tool for sexual exploration and therapy. This raises some profound questions:
- Will AI replace human sex therapists? The convenience and anonymity of AI could make it an attractive option for those uncomfortable with traditional therapy.
- What are the ethical implications? As AI becomes more sophisticated, we need to consider the potential for manipulation and exploitation.
- How will this impact human relationships? Will AI enhance or detract from the intimacy and connection that are essential to healthy sexual relationships?
A Sexperte’s Perspective
As a sex expert, I find myself both intrigued and apprehensive. The potential benefits of AI in sex therapy are undeniable, but we must proceed with caution. It’s crucial to ensure that AI is used responsibly and ethically, and that it complements, rather than replaces, human connection.
The future of sex and technology is uncertain, but one thing is clear: AI is poised to play a significant role. Whether that role is positive or negative depends on the choices we make today.
