A Culture That Opens Doors for Women at Avanza

Updated: July 4, 2025, 08:28 Published: June 24, 2025, 10:00

Frida Norin, Aroshine Munasinghe, Lovisa Carlborg and Linnéa Skantz work in tech at Avanza and are all involved in various cultural and gender equality initiatives.

At Avanza, they aren’t waiting for the tech industry to catch up. Instead, they are counteracting the gender imbalance by creating forums where women can develop and climb the career ladder. With initiatives like Invest like Her and the development festival Brainy Days, a culture is being built that drives innovation – and attracts more women to tech roles.

The gender imbalance is not only found in tech. There are also large gender differences in savings – which prompted Avanza’s initiative Invest like Her. Here, colleagues from all departments get to drive projects and develop ideas that make both the workplace and the customer experience more equal.

Equality is Not a Sideshow

Product specialist Lovisa Carlborg says that culture and product development go hand in hand at Avanza.

Equality is not a sideshow but part of the work. Working to make saving more accessible while strengthening women’s financial confidence feels truly meaningful.

For Frida Norin, Product Manager, an inclusive culture is crucial for innovation.

Here, you get to be yourself, feel involved, and also have a lot of fun. It attracts not only female talents but people with different perspectives and backgrounds. It makes us and the product stronger.

Brainy Days Realizes Ideas

Every year, Avanza’s own hackathon, Brainy Days, is organized. The concept is simple: you choose an idea and team up with colleagues to create a prototype. At the end of the week, a large demo is held where all presentations are shown.

The creative week has become a big part of Avanza’s tech culture. Several of Avanza’s most appreciated features started as just Brainy Days ideas.

It’s amazing how quickly something can go from thought to reality when we work together. It makes it easy to dare to raise your ideas and think new – regardless of title or experience, says Linnea Skantz, Product Manager.

Opportunity to Make a Real Impact

UX designer Aroshine Munasinghe has extensive experience in equality work. Today, she runs, among other things, Avanza’s participation in IGEday – an initiative with the aim of inspiring young girls to try out technology and meet role models in the business world.

At Avanza, you can influence both the customer’s and colleagues’ experience – it’s quite unique and suits me perfectly, she concludes.
