D-Marin Celebrates World Environment Day

D-Marin Sets New Standards for Eco-Friendly Boating

D-Marin is solidifying its commitment to eco-responsible navigation, setting a new standard for welcoming boaters.

The past year has seen significant steps taken to reduce the environmental impact of its operations. This includes developing infrastructure powered by clean energy, adopting waste reduction technologies, and implementing strategic partnerships that extend beyond the operational scope of its marinas.

In 2024, over 15 tons of waste were processed across all D-Marin sites, with 30% being recycled. Using DPOL2 and Jellyfishbot systems, seabed and port surface cleaning operations collected over five tons of marine debris, particularly in Greece, Croatia, the United Arab Emirates, and France.

D-Marin has also widely implemented smart terminals to optimize water and electricity management at docks. Solar energy produced by its facilities in Turkey and Croatia now reaches 4.9 GWh per year – equivalent to the annual consumption of over 1,345 households. Furthermore, the acquisition of 6.5 GWh in Guarantees of Origin reinforces its commitment to a greener energy mix.

Another milestone in 2024 was the official commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). By pledging to reduce Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030, D-Marin joins a global community of businesses working towards the goals set by the Paris Agreement.

“Environmental responsibility goes beyond mere operations. It is a fundamental principle guiding our vision for the future of boating,” says Andrea De Santis, Head of Operations at D-Marin. “Through targeted investments, strong partnerships, and a long-term vision, we are building marinas that combine exceptional service with a strong commitment to protecting the seas.”

The group’s efforts were recognized in 2024 with several major awards and certifications:

  • A Silver EcoVadis medal, placing D-Marin among the top 6% of performers in the global leisure sector for sustainability.
  • The Green Apple Environment Award, recognizing its exemplary environmental practices.
  • ISO 14001 certification extended to the entire group, now applied to the Punta Faro marina.
  • The continued Blue Flag label in all its Mediterranean marinas, with Malta and Palma currently in the qualification process – a guarantee of excellence in water quality, safety, and environmental education.

Beyond infrastructure and labels, D-Marin’s environmental approach also relies on raising awareness. Alongside organizations such as WWF France, HELMEPA, TURMEPA, and Green Sail, the group is involved in local communities through educational visits, clean-up operations, and educational events. At the port of Camille Rayon in Vallauris Golfe-Juan, recent activities have allowed children and visitors to learn about the challenges of marine environment preservation.

Finally, its membership in the United Nations Global Compact and CSR Hellas reinforces a commitment based on shared principles of environmental responsibility, transparent governance, and business ethics.

In a rapidly changing sector, D-Marin continues its path of sustainable growth, alongside its customers, captains, communities, and coastal territories.
