Donald Trump unleashes Silicon Valley to ensure the United States “global dominance.”
Trump Unveils AI Vision at Washington Summit
Tech billionaires who voted for him in 2024 did not support him for nothing. Donald Trump unveiled a vision for the development of artificial intelligence (AI) on Wednesday, July 23, largely based on the ideas of Silicon Valley figures and reversing the – timid – safeguards that his predecessor Joe Biden had tried to put in place.
Before an “AI Summit” held at the Andrew-Mellon Auditorium in Washington, and relayed on the podcast of investor David Sacks, now an advisor to the White House occupant on AI, the American president signed three decrees aimed at ensuring the “global domination” of the United States in artificial intelligence. None of the CEOs of the tech giants were present for the ceremony.
In his speech, Donald Trump requested that a sector as innovative as AI be renamed, knowing that he “cannot stand” the term artificial. “The name should be changed,” he proposed. “Because it’s not artificial, it’s genius. Pure genius.”
The action plan, published by the White House, reflects this enthusiasm. “The United States is engaged in a race to dominate artificial intelligence globally. Whoever has the largest AI ecosystem will set global standards in the field and reap significant economic and military benefits,” the introduction states.
