Leopard 46: The Excellence of Versatility

Leopard 46: A New Standard in Catamaran Excellence

Leopard Catamarans, with 25 years of experience and 3,000 vessels sailing the seas, presents the Leopard 46, a catamaran designed to appeal to both charter clients and discerning owners. Originally built exclusively for The Moorings charter company, these boats were known for their robustness, seaworthiness, ease of maintenance, and comfortable amenities. Now, Leopard elevates its offerings with high-end finishes, layouts, designs, and materials, while retaining the core qualities that established the brand’s reputation. This latest model from the South African builder pushes the boundaries of excellence even further.

The Leopard 46, unveiled at the Annapolis Boat Show, replaces the popular Leopard 45, which sold 380 units. It has already garnered accolades, including “Boat of the Year 2025” from Cruising World and a Top 10 award from Sail Magazine.

Contemporary Design and Remarkable Living Spaces

The Leopard 46 builds upon the success of its predecessor, aiming for technical perfection and enhanced onboard living. The catamaran features an elegant, contemporary design with wraparound roof glazing, providing panoramic views and abundant natural light through tempered glass windows. The sense of spaciousness is amplified by a new sliding door between the salon and cockpit, which disappears completely behind the helm station when open. This creates versatile and distinct spaces for relaxation and entertainment, regardless of the weather, while optimizing onboard circulation.

The signature Leopard forward access door remains, providing easy access to the comfortable forward cockpit, ideal for enjoying tropical sailing or relaxing at anchor.

The Leopard 46 is available in 3-cabin (plus utility room), 4-cabin, or 5-cabin configurations, each with an en-suite bathroom. The hull accommodations maintain the same rigor, material quality, and design as the salon/cockpit area.

Leopard catamarans are known for their sailing performance. The Leopard 46 offers enthusiasts the option of a taller mast and a “performance” sail package for enhanced sailing experiences.

The owner’s version of the Leopard 46 offers an optional hybrid electric propulsion system, which, with solar panels, a regeneration system while sailing, and a generator, provides significant autonomy. The Leopard 46 also benefits from the same equipment as the larger Leopard 50, including a watermaker, air conditioning, and induction cooktops.

Leopard 46: A Smart Choice for Charter Management

The Moorings and Sunsail offer a charter management program, allowing owners to offset the costs of ownership. Owners purchase a Leopard 46 in a version offered by the charter company, which handles rentals, maintenance, insurance, and dockage. In return for the investment, owners receive guaranteed income and can enjoy their boat, or its equivalent at one of the charter company’s bases, for up to twelve weeks per year.

At the end of the management period, owners can choose to keep their well-maintained boat or sell it through the charter company’s specialized service. By optimizing the financing and depending on the down payment (20 to 50% of the boat’s price), owners can sail several weeks per year in prime locations for a reasonable cost. Over 40% of owners who have participated in the charter management program with Sunsail or The Moorings have subsequently enrolled in a new program.

Whether you are a frequent charterer sailing more than two weeks per year or dream of owning a prestigious vessel without the burden of maintenance costs, this program offers an ideal compromise between pleasure and practicality.

This model is available for charter management exclusively through Sunsail and The Moorings.
