ArMen Race USHIP: Erwan Le Roux Returns with Koesio
The 15th edition of the ArMen Race USHIP will see nearly 200 boats set sail, including five Ocean Fifty trimarans. Among them is Koesio, skippered by Erwan Le Roux, who returns to the event after his last participation in 2018.
Le Roux isn’t focused on winning this time around. Instead, his goal is to validate the team’s recent work and share a valuable experience with his crew. He’s currently participating in a training camp in Quiberon Bay, organized by Orlabay and led by Daniel Souben.
The training camp also includes Lazare, skippered by Tanguy Le Turquais and Erwan Le Draoulec, and Upwing by MerConcept, led by Anne-Claire Le Berre. The focus has been on maneuvers, coordination, and team building.
“This race will conclude our training phase, during which we’ve performed well with a team still getting to know each other. We’ll approach the race in race configuration, but without aiming for a specific result. It will be the first night at sea for Maxime Guyon, who joined the team this season. A CrossFit world champion on an Ocean Fifty team is unusual! You can tell he wants to step outside his comfort zone,” says Erwan Le Roux.
Le Roux is familiar with the regatta, having participated many times before. On board Koesio, he will be joined by Audrey Ogereau, Devan Le Bihan, Vincent Domant, and Rémi Beauvais, all members of the technical team.
The race starts this Thursday, May 29th, at 2:00 PM from La Trinité-sur-Mer. The competitors will embark on a 350-nautical-mile course, passing by the Occidentale de Sein, Belle-Île, and the Île d’Yeu, before returning to La Trinité.
