Grand Pavois La Rochelle 2025: Charting a Course for Sustainable Boating

The Grand Pavois La Rochelle boat show is set to showcase the future of maritime practices with a dedicated “Eco-navigation & Sustainable Innovations” area. Visitors can expect a comprehensive look at the latest advancements in eco-friendly boating, from sustainable materials to electric propulsion.

A Showcase of Innovation on Land and Water

The exhibition will feature startups and established companies presenting tangible projects focused on:

  • Eco-design of vessels using bio-sourced and recyclable materials
  • Electric and hybrid propulsion systems
  • Wind-powered traction
  • Digital management of environmental data

A “future electric port” will provide a real-world demonstration of eco-designed, fully electric boats, highlighting the profound transformation occurring within the maritime industry.

Several companies will be showcasing their innovations:

  • WEENAV: Electric high-power outboard motors
  • Ecoboat: Electric boats exceeding nine meters
  • Sail on Bamboo: 6.5-meter sailboat constructed from bamboo and recycled fittings
  • Beyond The Sea: Kite wings designed to reduce the carbon footprint of maritime propulsion
  • Eco-Nautik: Hydrogen and biogas engines

The AFBE (French Association for Electric Boats) will also be present, alongside a giant climate frieze on the Vieux Port by Passalact, and the Once Upon a Tide digital tool for simplifying tide management. This collective display offers a concrete overview of the diverse approaches being explored to accelerate the maritime transition.

Expert Discussions on Maritime Transition

The show will host the 5th EDF – Grand Pavois Round Table, focusing on bio-sourced materials and electric propulsion. Experts, industry leaders, and startups will gather to discuss these critical themes.

The first segment will highlight innovations in naval construction that incorporate recyclable and sustainable materials, showcasing projects already in operation. The second will demonstrate that electric, hybrid, or hydrogen-powered engines are no longer a distant prospect but a viable alternative for the entire sector, from river tourism to port dredging operations.

These discussions will provide a platform to compare strategic visions, experiences, and technological innovations, reinforcing the Grand Pavois’ role as a catalyst for the ecological transition of boating.

A Collective Drive for Acceleration

“This 2025 edition perfectly illustrates the collective dynamic around decarbonization and electrification of the maritime sector,” emphasizes Franck Darthou, Regional Director of EDF Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The collaboration between large corporations, innovative startups, and public institutions demonstrates that the movement is underway.

By showcasing these emerging technologies, giving a voice to industry stakeholders, and allowing visitors to experience solutions firsthand, the Grand Pavois is solidifying its role as a driving force.

The boating industry is preparing to take a significant step forward. By highlighting concrete and accessible projects, the 2025 edition of the La Rochelle show is establishing itself as a large-scale laboratory for sustainable boating, where the navigation of tomorrow is already taking shape.
