Greater Than and Honda Announce Partnership to Quantify Accident Risk Using AI-Based Risk Analysis

Greater Than and Honda Partner on AI-Powered Road Safety Research

  • New research and development partnership leverages Greater Than’s AI-based risk analysis to identify accident risk patterns.
  • Data-driven insights will pinpoint high-risk areas and uncover underlying behavioral and environmental factors.
  • Project outcomes are expected to revolutionize traffic safety, infrastructure design, and mobility solutions.

Greater Than, a global leader in AI-driven risk analysis for road safety and climate impact, is pleased to announce a new research and development partnership with multinational automotive manufacturer Honda. The collaboration focuses on quantifying accident risk through advanced AI-based data insights.

The initiative will analyze large-scale anonymized driving data to identify geographical areas with a high accident risk. Using Greater Than’s AI technology, which measures driver impact on risk, the project will map the causes of elevated accident risk in specific areas, enabling targeted and informed interventions to mitigate risk.

“The partnership with Greater Than allows us to tap into next-generation AI-based risk analysis,” says Yuki Ishikawa, of the Integrated Strategy Division for Software Defined Vehicles at Honda. “Extracting deep insights from real driving behavior and a better understanding of the factors behind accident risks supports our goal of zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles globally by 2050.”

In the project’s initial phase, Greater Than will use its AI technology, trained for over 20 years with real-world driving data, to identify risk insights from anonymized driving data and draw conclusions about the factors influencing risk levels in different geographical areas in Japan. Subsequently, Greater Than will incorporate additional data, such as road types, infrastructure, and nearby buildings, to understand how the external environment affects accident risk.

“This is an exciting and commercially strategic project that transforms anonymized driving data into powerful and actionable insights,” says Johan Forseke, Head of APAC at Greater Than. “The ability to predict accident risk with AI-driven precision gives Honda a clear competitive advantage. The results will not only unlock new opportunities for innovation in safety technology but also create tangible value for infrastructure planning and broader mobility solutions.”

This collaboration highlights the growing role of predictive AI in the transformation of mobility with a focus on safety.
