Taking Stock Trading to a New Level: “Provides Inspiration and a Completely New Overview”

More inspiration, deeper insights, and algorithmic trading.
Nordnet is raising the bar with a series of new features aimed at the bank’s more active customers.
“We want to make saving and investing more fun, and we are constantly working to inspire saving,” says Gabrielle Hagman, Head of Sweden at Nordnet.
Nordnet is now investing in a series of new features designed to make saving and investing more fun and easier.
Analysts’ recommendations and views on a stock can be one of several important pieces of the puzzle when you are facing an investment decision. To contribute to an even better decision-making basis, Nordnet has launched a service where analysts’ target prices and recommendations are compiled and presented directly in the app and on the Nordnet website. Gabrielle Hagman notes that the service gives customers an overview in a completely new way:
“How many analysis firms recommend buying, holding, or selling the stock? This information can give you important input before a possible investment decision. However, you still have to do your homework, familiarize yourself with the company yourself, and not rely solely on analysts’ recommendations,” says Gabrielle Hagman, Head of Sweden at Nordnet.
The new service covers stocks on Nordnet’s platform that are monitored by investment banks or analysis firms. The companies covered are those listed on markets where Nordnet offers digital trading; Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, USA and Canada.
Get Inspired by Others with Shareville
Gabrielle Hagman notes that inspiration is an important key for many who wish to be more active in their stock trading. Part of this is Shareville, Nordnet’s social network for stocks and fund savings.
“Through Shareville, you can be inspired by other people’s investment portfolios. In addition, it is a discussion forum where users exchange many tips with each other,” says Gabrielle Hagman.
Shareville is available in the app and on the Nordnet website, and you choose which accounts you want to show. What is shared is what holdings you have, not how much money you invest.
News: Algorithmic Trading and Currency Account
Another long-awaited new feature at Nordnet is algorithmic trading. This is a step that Nordnet is taking to meet the demand from the most active investors and create new trading opportunities.
A coming feature is currency accounts on ISK and endowment insurance, a service aimed at Private Banking and Active Trading customers. With currency accounts, customers can choose when they want to exchange currency.
“You may have had a holding in an American stock that has done well, but then the dollar and the Swedish krona have developed in a different direction. With a currency account, you can sell the stock at a certain point in time, but exchange your US dollars at a later point in time. So it’s about being able to experiment with the currency and not just with the stock itself,” says Gabrielle Hagman.
“At the same time, you have to remember that these are complicated products and that it is important that you as an investor understand how it works and what risks it entails. We check this by letting our customers answer a few questions in a knowledge test.”
NORDNET – A MORE FUN WAY TO SAVE IN STOCKS AND FUNDS
Nordnet is the Nordic region’s leading platform for savings. The bank was founded in 1996 with the aim of democratizing savings and investments. Through inspiration and innovative services, Nordnet wants to make it fun and easy to save in stocks and funds. You open an account directly in the app and can start exploring your opportunities right away.
What is algorithmic trading?
Trading algorithms are smart order types that optimize buying and selling processes for stocks. The goal is to get as good a price as possible and minimize the impact on the market price. This can be done by spreading the trades over time or by seeking so-called hidden liquidity in the market.
Good to know about risks:
- Liquidity-seeking algorithms: There is a risk that the entire order volume will not be filled, especially at more passive levels. The trade can then be postponed until later in the day, which may mean a less favorable price.
- Scheduled algorithms (VWAP & TWAP): These spread the trade over a longer period to avoid changes in the price, which may mean that shares are bought or sold at a less favorable price later in the day. The risk increases as the order has a higher participation rate.
Remember that investments always involve a risk. There is a risk that you will not get back the money you invested. Be sure to make your own assessment and do not rely solely on analysts’ assessment. An approved knowledge test is required for you to be able to use algorithmic trading and open a currency account.
