Mercury Marine: A 2025 Full of Surprises
Small Engines Popular with Boaters
Whether for powering a dinghy or a small boat, be it a sailboat, motorboat, or fishing boat, small engines are highly valued by boaters. An added benefit is that a license is not required for engines under 6 hp. One manufacturer understands this well and is offering a discount of up to 30% on its range of 2.5 to 30 hp engines.
How to Take Advantage of This Discount
By visiting the manufacturer’s website, you can find a complete list of the engines included, customer benefits per model, and a list of participating dealers. This offer is valid in mainland France from March 1st to May 31st, 2025, while supplies last. The offer includes all accessories and the propeller but excludes transport, installation, and start-up costs.
Examples
Depending on the power, you have the choice between short, long, or extra-long shaft, manual or electric start, and trim with gas or electro-hydraulic assistance. From 8 hp onwards, all models are equipped with electronic fuel injection (EFI). For example, the 2.5 hp short-shaft model with a tiller, well-suited for dinghies, is offered at 822 Euros, while the list price is 1186 Euros, a discount of 364 Euros. A 30 hp (ELHPT EFI) with electric start, long shaft, tiller, and electro-hydraulic trim will cost you 5428 Euros instead of 7555 Euros (a discount of 2129 Euros).
A Brand with a Strong International Presence
For over 85 years, this manufacturer (a division of a large corporation) has been producing outboard motors and marine accessories. The range covers all needs, from small 2.5 hp engines to powerful engines reaching 600 hp. In 2025, for the first time, the manufacturer presented its own stand at the Dubai International Boat Show, bringing together two key regional distributors. Over 80% of the engines exhibited at the event were from this manufacturer. “The performance at the Dubai Boat Show reflects the confidence that boat builders and consumers place in our cutting-edge technology and reliability,” said a company president. At the Helsinki Boat Show, the manufacturer accounted for nearly 40% of all outboards at the show, twice that of its nearest competitor. Furthermore, the manufacturer represented more than 70% of outboards over 150 hp. In February, at the Gothenburg Boat Show in Sweden, the manufacturer accounted for 44% of all outboards at the show and nearly 70% of all outboards of 150 hp and more. The 44% share was more than double that of the nearest competitor in Gothenburg. The manufacturer also recently held a significant market share at the Cairo International Boat Show (Egypt), with 71% of products.
Our Opinion
We have all encountered problems with outboard motors, especially when starting them. Disassembling the spark plug or even the carburetor was often necessary. With the new generations, in principle, we no longer encounter these problems. For example, with this manufacturer, from 8 hp onwards, all models are equipped with electronic fuel injection (EFI), which efficiently manages the engine’s fuel supply based on its speed.
