Mercury Marine Unveils New 150R/200R V6 Outboard Engines at Cannes Yachting Festival

New Mercury Racing 150R/200R Outboard Motors Announced

Mercury Racing has unveiled its latest innovations: the all-new 150R and 200R outboard motors, built on a V6 platform.

These new engines prioritize torque. With a 3.4-liter displacement, these V6 outboards are engineered to deliver exceptional power and acceleration without the weight of a V8. Transient Spark Technology electronically adjusts ignition timing as needed, producing additional torque for quicker hole shots and faster acceleration. At wide-open throttle, the 150R reaches up to 6000 RPM, while the 200R hits 6400 RPM.

The outboards feature the full suite of Mercury Marine’s V6 platform characteristics, including Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS), providing drivers with precise and seamless engine control. Fuel economy is also optimized through integrated and GPS-compatible features such as Mercury’s Active Trim, Adaptive Speed Control, and Advanced Range Optimization, which delivers precise fuel throughout the operating range. The 150R and 200R are designed to run on standard 95 RON fuel.

The 150R and 200R also boast a more powerful 85-amp alternator, compared to the 44-55 amps found in competing engines. Mercury’s Integrated Battery Management system ensures ample electrical power, even with a full complement of onboard electronics.

“With the new 150R and 200R, we’re bringing Mercury Racing DNA to our V6 outboard lineup. These engines are best-in-class for low-end torque,” says Jeff Broman, category director, Mercury Racing. “Add to that the many digital features offered by the Mercury V6 platform, and the competition simply can’t match them.”

The 200R is offered in two different gearcase configurations. The 200R Torque Master, weighing 469 pounds, is designed for competitive bass boats and other performance boats in the 50-53 mph range. The 200R Sport Master, weighing 489 pounds, is designed for high-performance boats running at 85 mph and beyond. The 150R is available with 20- and 25-inch shaft lengths, while the 200R Torque Master and Sport Master have a 20-inch shaft.

“In recent years, Mercury Marine and Mercury Racing have raised the bar for innovation in the outboard market by introducing new V8 and V10 models at the top of our range. Now, we’ve responded to customer demand by expanding our V6 engine offerings. With the 150R and 200R, our customers have an expanded range of sophisticated, high-tech outboard engines for their boating adventures,” said John Buelow, president of Mercury Marine.

New Mercury FourStroke 150 hp

Also announced, the Mercury 150 hp FourStroke is now available in Cold Fusion White in addition to Phantom Black. These new colors were added in response to demand from saltwater boaters who want to minimize the appearance of water spots on their outboard and keep it cooler to the touch in hot weather. In addition, this allows more owners to coordinate their engine with their hull color.

The all-new FourStroke 105 hp Jet also joins Mercury’s mid-range lineup. This jet outboard, built on the FourStroke 150 hp platform, delivers 105 horsepower. This places it at the top of the Mercury jet family, which also includes the 25-40 hp Jet and the 60-80 hp Jet. The new FourStroke 105 hp Jet is ideal for boaters and anglers who want to navigate safely in shallower waters while benefiting from the intuitive operation and reliability of Mercury FourStroke technology.
