Nvidia to resume selling its most advanced chips to China
Nvidia Resumes Sales of Advanced AI Chips to China
American technology giant Nvidia announced Tuesday it will resume sales to China of an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) chip model, on the eve of CEO Jensen Huang’s visit to Beijing.
“Nvidia has filed applications to resell the Nvidia H20 GPU. The U.S. government has assured Nvidia that licenses will be granted and Nvidia expects to begin deliveries soon,” the company said in a statement. The Trump administration had restricted the export of Nvidia’s most powerful chips to China.
Jensen Huang is expected to attend the opening ceremony of the third China International Supply Chain Expo on Wednesday, according to CCTV.
Nvidia, founded in 1993, produces high-tech semiconductors called graphics processing units or GPUs. Originally designed to power video games, these chips are capable of performing extremely complex calculations very quickly. These qualities have made them essential components in the development of AI, enabling them to train and operate models.
