LILY: A Visionary Yacht Redefining Luxury and Sustainability

LILY stands apart from conventional yachts with its bold, asymmetrical design conceived by Vripack. This project prioritizes an energy-conscious architecture geared towards the future. Inspired by the water lily, its design features staggered levels and openings that blur the lines between interior and exterior spaces. The hull, sculpted like a floating work of art, forgoes ostentatious displays of wealth in favor of creating unexpected perspectives and spaces.

The interior layout deviates from traditional arrangements. The main deck boasts a vast recreational area, complete with a rear swimming pool, a gym, and a bar. The six guest cabins on the intermediate deck are distributed across different levels, offering welcome privacy for groups of travelers. At the top, the owner’s suite exudes exclusivity with a private terrace and curved bay windows that embrace the seascape.

An Adaptable Energy Approach

LILY aligns with Oceanco’s commitment to energy innovation, focusing on a gradual transition to future fuels. Built to operate with a combination of dual-fuel (methanol/diesel) engines and fuel cells, it can navigate with a reduced carbon footprint, particularly when using green methanol.

“LILY’s energy flexibility allows it to adapt to changes in the fuel market without compromising its range,” explains Simon Brealey, Chief Engineer at Lateral. Thanks to an optimized design, the yacht is capable of crossing the Atlantic using various fuel types, while reducing emissions when more sustainable sources are available.

A Propulsion System Inspired by Nature

One of LILY’s most intriguing features is its ABB Dynafin™ propulsion system, a biomimetic technology inspired by the movements of cetaceans. Unlike traditional propellers, this thruster uses individually controlled blades that mimic the swimming motion of dolphins and whales. The result is improved energy efficiency, reduced noise, and increased maneuverability.

“Dynafin opens a new path in propulsion, reducing fuel consumption and improving onboard comfort,” emphasizes Oceanco.

A Yacht Designed for Tomorrow

Beyond its atypical silhouette and technical choices, LILY embodies a vision where design, comfort, and sustainability converge. Its layout redefines the experience of life at sea, while its energy concept prepares the yachts of the future to navigate in a world where environmental requirements will become increasingly stringent.

Without aiming to be an ecological manifesto or an extravagant display of luxury, LILY illustrates a desire to explore alternative paths in the yachting industry. This ambitious endeavor could well redefine the expectations of tomorrow’s owners.
