Tony Parker Obtains SEA Index® Certification with his Yacht Infinity Nine

A Yacht Designed for a Different Kind of Exploration

With a gross tonnage of 333 GT, the M/Y Infinity Nine is the second unit in the Kando 110 series from Turkish shipyard AvA Yachts. Conceived as a compact explorer, it boasts transoceanic capabilities rare in its category, with a range of over 6,500 nautical miles. Flying the flag of the Yacht Club de Monaco, it fully embodies a more sustainable and innovative approach to yachting.

Thanks to its energy performance and the integration of modern technologies, the vessel has earned a 3-star certification from the SEA Index®, which evaluates the environmental impact of superyachts over 24 meters.

“From its conception, we had a clear and determined desire to build M/Y Infinity Nine, a yacht that could combine innovation and performance with an environmental approach. This project demonstrates that excellence is not limited to pure performance but also encompasses responsibility towards our planet. It is this sustainable vision from the outset that makes all the difference,” says Tony Parker.

Concrete Advantages for Eco-Responsible Yachts

This 3-star distinction unlocks several advantages for the owner and crew. It notably allows for discounts on mooring fees in the ports of Monaco (Hercule, Fontvieille, Cala del Forte), priority access to mooring spaces in 15 partner ports, from Menton to Bonifacio, as well as in the Seychelles (Eden Marina, Port Victoria).

Owners also benefit from a 10% discount on Jutheau Husson insurance, as well as reductions on sustainability-related training offered by La Belle Classe Academy, the Yacht Club de Monaco’s training center.

SEA Index®, the Environmental Benchmark for Yachting

Created in 2020 by the Yacht Club de Monaco and Credit Suisse (UBS group), the SEA Index® is based on a rigorous methodology, developed with partners such as Lloyd’s Register and RINA. It relies on emission calculation tools, such as the Lifecycle Emissions Calculator, to ensure a transparent and reliable assessment.

“With the SEA Index® certification, we support owners in their energy transition, offering them a clear vision and a strategic advantage. Its deployment, beyond Monaco, unites a yachting community committed to preserving the Ocean,” explains Bernard d’Alessandri, Secretary General of the Yacht Club de Monaco.

An Ever-Evolving Approach

Since September 2024, the SEA Index® has become the first assessment tool to integrate the analysis of fuel cell technologies into its CO2 certification. It is also opening up to the consideration of other emissions, such as nitrogen oxides (NOx) and fine particles.

Labeled CAPENERGIES, it relies on recognized international standards to support owners in concretely reducing their environmental footprint.

A Simple and Precise Measurement System

The main indicator of the SEA Index® is based on the number of grams of CO2 emitted per gross ton and per hour, a criterion representative of the yacht’s interior volume. This method, adapted to the specificities of large pleasure units, allows for an objective comparison of the environmental performance of yachts over 24 meters.

By providing industry professionals with independent assessment tools, the SEA Index® continues to establish itself as a benchmark for guiding the energy transition of the yachting of tomorrow.
