Schneider Electric Launches Data Center Solutions to Meet Future AI Challenges
Schneider Electric Unveils Innovative Data Center Solutions for High-Density AI
To address the demands of high-density AI and accelerated computing models, Schneider Electric has introduced a new prefabricated data center architecture. This solution provides IT infrastructure for high-density computing clusters and supports new rack systems with direct-to-chip liquid cooling. Additionally, the company is launching a new rack system inspired by the Open Compute Project (OCP), supporting NVIDIA’s MGX architecture.
These data center solutions are specifically designed to meet the requirements of next-generation AI cluster architectures. Expanding its EcoStruxure™ Data Center Solutions portfolio, Schneider Electric is launching a prefabricated modular EcoStruxure Pod Data Center solution that includes infrastructure for liquid cooling, Canalis busbars for high loads, and high-density NetShelter racks.
EcoStruxure Rack Solutions integrate detailed rack configurations and frameworks designed to accelerate the deployment of High Performance Computing (HPC) and AI data centers. The new EcoStruxure Pod Data Center and EcoStruxure Rack Solutions are now available globally.
Organizations are increasingly implementing AI clusters, leading to server racks with very high density, projected to reach 1 MW and more in the coming years. Schneider Electric’s new solutions provide customers with integrated, data-validated, and scalable IT room solutions, offering new possibilities in pod and rack design, power distribution, and thermal management.
The immense power and density required for AI clusters create bottlenecks and necessitate new approaches to data center architecture. Customers need integrated infrastructure solutions that not only manage thermal loads and dynamic power profiles but are also deployed quickly, scaled predictably, and operated efficiently and sustainably. Our next-generation EcoStruxure solutions supporting NVIDIA technology meet these critical requirements, says Himamshu Prasad, Senior Vice President for EcoStruxure IT, Transactional & Edge and Energy Storage Center of Excellence at Schneider Electric.
Product Overview
Prefabricated Modular EcoStruxure Pod
The prefabricated, scalable pod architecture enables operators to deploy high-density racks supporting pods up to more than 1 MW at scale. This new infrastructure can be customized upon order, offering flexibility and support for liquid cooling, busbars, complex cabling, and architectures for various cooling solutions such as InRow. The EcoStruxure Pod Data Center solution is delivered pre-assembled and pre-designed with the components needed for rapid deployment and support of high-density workloads.
EcoStruxure Rack Solutions
High-density rack systems are tailored for EIA, ORV3, and NVIDIA MGX’s modular design standards, approved by leading IT chip and server manufacturers. The configurations accommodate a wide range of power and cooling distribution systems and utilize Motivair by Schneider Electric i-rack liquid cooling, as well as new and expanded rack and power distribution products, including:
- NetShelter SX Advanced Enclosure: This new product series features taller, deeper, and more robust racks to support increased weight, cabling, and infrastructure. NetShelter SX Advanced has a reinforced shipping load rating and is protected with shock packaging to ensure safe transport of AI servers and liquid cooling systems.
- NetShelter Rack PDU Advanced: These power distribution units have been updated to support the high power needs of AI servers. Designed for efficient rack layouts, they offer compact vertical and horizontal models with more dedicated circuits. Intelligent features enabled by Schneider Electric’s Network Management Card enhance security and enable seamless integration with EcoStruxure IT.
- NetShelter Open Architecture: Inspired by the Open Compute Project (OCP), this rack architecture is available as a configurable solution with open rack standards and integrated busbars. A new rack system from Schneider Electric has been developed to support the NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 system, which uses the NVIDIA MGX architecture in its rack design, integrating Schneider Electric into NVIDIA’s HGX and MGX ecosystem for the first time.
Schneider Electric’s innovative solutions provide the reliable, scalable infrastructure our customers need to accelerate their AI initiatives. Together, we are addressing the rapidly growing demands of AI factories, from kilowatt to megawatt-scale racks, and delivering future-proof solutions that maximize scalability, density, and efficiency, says Vladimir Troy, vice president, datacenter engineering, operations, enterprise software and cloud services at NVIDIA.
The new solutions and suite of customized reference architectures within data centers provide data center operators and Schneider Electric’s partner ecosystem with the infrastructure and information needed to implement powerful AI clusters faster and more reliably. They also address common obstacles, including:
- Reliable power and cooling for AI workloads
- Complexity and risk during deployment
- Time to market and supply chain resilience
- Skills gaps in managing advanced infrastructure
