Step Back in Time: Immersive Tutankhamun Exhibition Coming to Stockholm
Stockholm is set to host a unique exhibition that will transport visitors 3,000 years into the past. Tutankhamun – The Immersive Exhibition, opening on October 17th at Magasin 9 in Frihamnen, offers a new way to experience ancient Egypt and encounter the young pharaoh Tutankhamun.
The exhibition blends modern technology with historical artifacts. The 375-square-meter immersive space uses projections on walls and floors to plunge the audience into the world of ancient Egypt. Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies allow visitors to follow the expedition to the Valley of the Kings, learn about Egyptian gods, myths, and legends, and gain insight into one of history’s greatest archaeological discoveries.
Relive a Groundbreaking Archaeological Discovery
Visitors can walk in the footsteps of Howard Carter, the archaeologist who discovered Tutankhamun’s tomb a century ago, and hear his account of the sensational find. The tomb’s incredible collection of over 5,500 items, including priceless gold artifacts, are recreated in realistic 1:1 reproductions.
The exhibition also features 20 authentic artifacts from various periods of Egyptian history, illustrating daily life, beliefs, and ideas about the afterlife. Highlights include a shabti of the priest Rehsu, a grave stele from the New Kingdom, and a statue of an offering bearer from the Middle Kingdom.
Created by MAD (Madrid Artes Digitales) in collaboration with FKP Scorpio Entertainment Nordic, the exhibition was nominated for Best Museum Exhibition of the Year by National Geographic and History Magazine. Following successful runs in Madrid, Barcelona, Vienna, Cairo, and San Paulo, with over two million visitors, it will now be on display in Stockholm for a limited time.
“This is not just an exhibition, but a journey through history, technology, and imagination. We want both children and adults to feel that they have truly been in Tutankhamun’s world,” says Stefan Papangelis, CEO of FKP Scorpio Entertainment Nordic.
